Announcement from Beirut Spring Festival – Samir Kassir Foundation

Dear audience, artists and friends of the Beirut Spring Festival,
It is with a heavy heart that we address our condolences and thoughts to every person affected by the devastating blast that changed Beirut forever on August 4, 2020.
This year has been tough on all of us with the economic, political and sanitary crisis, and has left the cultural industry along with all its actors on the verge of collapse.
Like many other festivals, the Beirut Spring Festival was put on hold for the first time in 12 years. We were hoping to postpone it later this year. The horrendous explosion has once again jeopardized long term planning but it is our duty to stand against.
Samir Kassir believed that freedom of expression and the role of culture were the crucial condition for any resilience, any modern society, and especially for the prosperity of Lebanon, to thrive beyond the state of despair.
We are glad to announce that we are organizing two live online shows to offer a glimpse of light in this everlasting darkness the whole country is facing. The show is made possible by several international artists who took part in Beirut Spring Festival from 2009 until 2019 and who are eager to share today a message of hope with all of you: A virtual live festival on August 25 and September 1, 2020 at 9:00PM.
Stay tuned to reconnect with some of the international artists who accepted generously to honor their friendship and affinity to Beirut and its people with special new performances.
Save the dates!
Thanks for your wonderful solidarity.
The Beirut Spring Festival Team.
Samir Kassir Foundation.
