No major breakthrough has been obtained on this subject, underlines the diplomat, who considers it urgent to find a way out of the current political impasse.

“To this day, my observation is that the political actors have not lived up to their responsibilities and still have not seriously started to work for the recovery of the country. (…) I am here precisely to prevent this kind of collective suicide organized by some
Jean-Yves le Drian, May 7, 2021

The minister reiterated his threats, indicating that politicians will face the consequences of the failure to form a new cabinet when restrictions have already been put in place on the movement of some politicians in Europe. Other sanctions could be put in place, indicates Jean-Yves le Drian who has not, however, revealed the identity of the people so far targeted by these sanctions.

As a reminder, the French minister had met yesterday with the President of the Republic General Michel Aoun, the president of the chamber Nabih Berri and questions related to a possible meeting with the prime minister designate Saad Hariri which could only take place. at the last minute at the Palais des Pins and not at the Maison du Center, proof of new tensions between France and the latter while French diplomatic sources accused him of only supporting the Paris initiative in words and not in action.
