Lebanese authorities indicate that only 705 people report having suffered side effects following the injection of the Pfizer BioNTeck vaccine in Lebanon according to a study carried out between February 14 and March 31, 2021.
94% of the cases would be considered as being “non-serious”, 4.4% of the cases were the subject of a follow-up or a total of 31 people. Among them, 0.6% of cases were considered to be important, or 4 cases and 1.6% serious, or 11 cases. Of these last 11 cases, 5 would have died and 6 were hospitalized according to the authors of the report. An investigation is reportedly underway to determine the causes of these deaths. 9 of them were over 75 years old and 2 between 18 and 44 years old.
Of the hospitalized cases, 3 people suffered from nervous disorders, one from a severe allergy, another from a severe immune reaction and a final case from oxygen desaturation.
The 5 people who died are believed to be over 75 and suffering from co-morbidity.
Of the symptoms, generalized pain for 31.7% of the cases followed up, 21.9% experienced fever, 17.1% injection pain, 16.6% headache and pyrexia for 14.6% of them.
64.4% of the reported cases concerned women and 35.6% men.
