Syrian authorities say a drone struck a tanker in Syrian territorial waters in the early evening. A fire reportedly broke out on board the vessel. This drone would come from the territorial waters of Lebanon, accuses the Syrian oil ministry.
For the time being, the Lebanese authorities have not made any statement on this subject confirming or informing the origin of this drone.
This would be the first attack of this kind from Lebanon and comes at a time when a dispute between the two countries has arisen over the delimitation of exclusive economic zones. However, this type of attack is quite common in Syria, where identical attacks have targeted Russian bases in particular.
