The outgoing Minister of Health accused importers of medical supplies of being at the origin of the shortage of this type of goods in Lebanon. Speaking on the Al Jadeed channel, Hamad Hassan said that the existing stocks of medical supplies are sufficient to meet local needs for 2 to 3 months without financing from the Banque du Liban.

He believes that the importers of medical supplies would have been waiting for the end of the subsidy program of the Bank of Lebanon, calling on them moreover to allow the marketing of these stocks in order to save lives.

Hamad Hassan also notes that the governor of the Bank of Lebanon Riad Salamé assured him to continue the program of subsidy for the purchase of drugs to the tune of 100 million dollars by me. However, the importers reportedly failed to send the Lebanese authorities the necessary drug lists.

The outgoing minister also indicated that an update of hospital prices will soon be implemented.
