The Ministry of Tourism announces that 62 private tourist establishments have been closed for non-compliance with health rules related to the fight against the COVID19 epidemic in Lebanon. The ministry reiterates its desire to fight against those who violate the measures adopted in early December.

As a reminder, restrictions imposed due to the end-of-year celebrations will be valid until January 9, 2021, at 6 a.m. inclusive, while the number of cases of infected people continues to increase with a new level which was crossed yesterday with more than 2000 people diagnosed positive. The health authorities now fear the repetition of the scenario of the beginning of the year 2021 with a surge in the number of deaths linked to covid due to the saturation of the medical system whose capacities have been put in difficulty due to shortages of drugs and economic crisis.

Vaccination is now compulsory for personnel working in the sectors of health, education, tourism, transport, the public sector, municipalities, unions, as well as for the military and the security forces. interior.

Restrictions will also be imposed on stores which cannot operate at more than half of their capacity or even on gatherings which cannot exceed 100 people without prior authorization from the ministries of health and tourism.

Schools were also forced to close their doors from December 16 to January 10. An extension of school holidays is now mentioned according to some sources.
