Fuel prices have once again increased. The new price list from the Ministry of Energy indicates that the price of a 20-liter container of SP98 is now 40,900 LL (+700 LL), that of SP95 is 39,700 LL (+600 LL) and that of fuel oil at 27,400 LL (+700 LL)
The price of 10 kilo gas cylinders is however lowered to 24,200 LL (-300)
This new increase comes in a climate of tension on the gasoline market with many shortages sometimes organized yesterday by the owners of gas stations. Thus, the governor of the capital Marwan Abboud called in the municipal police forces supported by the police in various petrol stations closed to motorists. The latter discovered that they still had gasoline stocks and made them reopen to customers.
For the time being, the end of the subsidy program remains dependent on the implementation of ration cards intended for 75% of the population, a large part of it now living below the poverty line estimated at 6 USD. per day and while the value of the Lebanese pound has collapsed on the black market.
