The governor of the Banque du Liban Riad Salamé is subject to a ban on leaving the territory by decision of the Attorney General of Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun.
This decision was allegedly motivated by the existence of evidence of illegitimate enrichment and money laundering following a preliminary investigation carried out after a complaint lodged by lawyers from the legal department of the People Want the Reform of the Regime group.
As a reminder, the governor of the BdL – who is also the subject of similar prosecutions in France or Switzerland – denies being involved in these cases, considering that these complaints are filed for political reasons.
