Former prime minister and current prime minister designate Saad Hariri in a statement called on the outgoing government to pay the Lebanese contribution to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

As a reminder, the Lebanese contribution represents 49% of the budget of this judicial institution which announced the imminent suspension of its work for lack of funds.

According to the statement, this Chamber order followed the filing of the Registrar on June 1, 2021, who notified the Chamber of the “serious financial situation that the STL is currently facing”, due to the late payment of the Lebanese authorities, also calling for the payment of contribution by the end of the month.
