The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun said on Friday that the Lebanese are impatiently awaiting the meeting requested by Pope Francis with the Christian religious leaders of Lebanon which will take place on July 1 at the Vatican. It should in particular focus on the crises that the Land of the Cedars is going through. The head of state thus estimated, in front of the charge d'affaires of the pontifical embassy, Mgr. Giuseppe Francone, that the Lebanese expect a lot from this meeting, before calling on the Vatican to support Lebanon in the face of difficult circumstances. He also handed over to Mgr. Francone a letter addressed to the Pope. The latter underlined the special attention to the Holy Father in Lebanon and to his visit scheduled for a date not yet specified.
