The new finance minister in Hassan Diab’s government, Ghazi Wazni, an economist by training, was for a long time also the economic adviser to the Speaker of the House Nabih Berri.
He was appointed Minister of Finance by Prime Minister Hassan Diab on 21 January 2020 on the proposal of Nabih Berri. He succeeds another close to the Speaker of Parliament, Ali Hassan Khalil.
Ghazi Wazni has a research office, the Ghazi Wazni Office of Studies.
It will have the difficult task of trying to repair public finances while reviving the economic activity of Lebanon, largely impacted by the economic crisis.
