Members of the Amal movement are said to be circulating a petition to organize an extraordinary legislative session after the end of the current ordinary session, after an arrest warrant against MP Ali Hassan Khalil in the framework of the investigation into the explosion of the Port of Beirut has been transmitted to the internal security forces.
The objective of this petition would therefore be to extend the parliamentary immunity enjoyed by parliamentarians in order to escape arrest and appearance before Judge Tarek Bitar in charge of the investigation.
This information comes when the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, for his part refused to convene an extraordinary parliamentary session of parliament.
