Lebanese authorities said they had seized a large quantity of Captagon bound for the port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The drugs were hidden inside goods that were intercepted at the Port of Beirut.
Outgoing Interior Minister Mohammed Fahmi visited the unit that intercepted this shipment to congratulate them on this important catch, as Saudi authorities last month decided to ban all imports of fruit and vegetables from Lebanon and plan to completely ban all imports from the Land of the Cedars, on the pretext of fighting drug trafficking.
Mohammed Fahmi thus called on the population to participate in the work of the police to restore confidence in Lebanon. He also indicates that the ISF and other security forces are currently dismantling this network and have already arrested a number of its members.
