Qatari foreign minister expected in Lebanon

The Qatari foreign minister is expected to begin an official visit to Lebanon on Tuesday. Mohammed ben Abdulrahman Al-Thani should thus meet successively with the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, the Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri then with the Prime Minister designate Saad Hariri and the Commander of the Lebanese Army General Joseph Aoun .

As a reminder, Qatar had already intervened politically in Lebanon to facilitate the presidential election of General Michel Sleiman in the 2000s after more than a year of failure of successive ballots. Local political parties then accepted the Doha agreements under Qatari patronage.
