The World Bank has indicated that it is allocating $ 37 million to help teachers in public schools. This sum would come from the Trust Fund for the Syrian Crisis in Lebanon, which aims to help Lebanese communities welcome Syrian refugees.

However, these sums will exceptionally be donated in 2021 and 2022 to help teachers get the fuel they need to get to work, the statement said.

This information comes as the Lebanese pound has lost 94% of its value against the dollar in 2 years. Thus, the minimum wage which was previously equivalent to $ 450 is now worth less than $ 30 and the median wage, which previously amounted to approximately $ 1000, is now only worth approximately $ 55.
