The heritage is also culinary of which Lebanon can be proud of a certain wealth. A hub in trade, the Land of the Cedars has adopted a number of foreign dishes such as the famous Daoud Bacha, of Albanian origin bearing the name of a former governor of Moutassarifiah , the falafel of Egyptian origin. There are also local dishes including the famous tabouleh or Hommos.

Hommos, a dish perhaps invented in Beirut

Usually served as a starter and can accompany the rest of the meal, Hommos is easy to make.

Some will see a Damascene origin, others believe that this dish was invented in Beirut in the 19th century during the Ottoman occupation and finally some cite a medieval Egyptian origin.

Its origin would be the subject of a controversy.

The Israelis also claim to have created it because of a similar dish but without its essential ingredients, namely Tahini and garlic, which together give them their characteristic taste, as we can discover.
