Holder of a doctorate in law and political science, Mustapha Adib began his career as a professor of public international law, constitutional law, geopolitics and international relations at various universities in Lebanon and France.
In 2000, he embarked on an academic career in Lebanon, notably at the Lebanese University where his research focused on state security, parliamentary control of the security sector, decentralization and local democracy. and electoral laws. Became
President of the Center for Strategic Studies in the Middle East (CESMO) in 2004, he conducted several studies, among others, with the United Nations, the Geneva Center for the Civil Control of Armed Forces and the UNDP, as well as with many universities.
He is also the author of several books and reports on the aforementioned subjects, including the chapter “Middle East and West Asia” of the “World Report on the State of Decentralization and Local Democracy”, edited by the UCGL and Paris I University of the Sorbonne.
He is president of the Lebanese Association of International Law (ALDI) and of the Lebanese Association of Political Science and member of the Association of French University Graduates, of the Arab Association of Political Science, of the International Association of Law Constitutional Law and the Observatory for Permanent Civil Peace.
From 2000 to 2004, he was adviser to Najib Mikati, then Minister of Public Works and Transport, and has remained his adviser to this day. Between 2005 and 2006, he also represented Najib Mikati, who became Prime Minister, before the Special Committee responsible for drafting the new electoral law.
In 2011, Prime Minister Najib Mikati appointed him chief of his cabinet. Dr.
Mustapha Adib is married to Flavia d’Amato and has five children.
