Lebanon deplores 40 deaths and 2,460 cases of people infected with the COVID19 coronavirus, as outgoing Minister of Health Hamad Hassan announced postponing the 2nd dose of Pfizer vaccine to 6 weeks after the first injection .
The symbolic milestone of 500,000 cases was passed on Wednesday, while the committee in charge of fighting the pandemic called for the resumption of the activity of the education sector in all its branches and stages: public education, vocational and technical education and higher education, gradually within an integrated program that takes into account all preventive measures against the disease.
As a reminder, a curfew has been established this week from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. while the Muslim community celebrates Ramadan. Lebanese health authorities are trying to avoid public and private gatherings conducive to the spread of the disease. Despite this, even as the rate of positive coronavirus tests declines, the number of cases remains stable or even increases.
Speaking on the airwaves of the OTV, he indicated that this approach has been adopted by many countries on the basis of recommendations from their scientific committees. According to the minister, 20% of the local population currently benefit from acquired immunity either after infection or after vaccination. Nearly 750,000 additional doses of Pfizer vaccines should arrive in Lebanon in June and July, while deliveries of AstraZeneca or Sputnik vaccine doses should continue. Ultimately, the Lebanese authorities would like to benefit 80% of the population.
For the time being, 1,171,075 people have been registered with the official program to obtain the valuable covid vaccine since its opening on January 27, 2021.
Still concerning vaccination, the Ministry of Public Health announced that it would have set up an e-mail notification system for people wishing to be vaccinated. Access to this new service is possible via the link https://covax.moph.gov.lb

Au total, 502 299 ont été contaminées depuis le 21 février 2020, date de la découverte d’un premier cas au Liban.
2 460 ont été diagnostiquées positives en ce jour.
Le nombre de contaminations locales quotidien est de 2 444 cas. 16 cas en provenance de l’étranger ont été diagnostiqués.
Le nombre total des personnes touchées par le virus atteint le chiffre de 497 280 cas locaux et de 5019 cas en provenance de l’étranger.
40 décès ont été donc annoncés ces dernières 24 heures. Le nombre total de personnes décédées est de 6 778 depuis l’apparition de la maladie au Liban, le 21 février 2020.
Le ratio de tests positifs reste élevé mais diminue avec le chiffre de 14.8 %.
1 850 personnes étaient hospitalisées et 821 personnes étaient dans un état considéré comme critique et 226 personnes placées sous respirateurs.

Au total, 218 744 personnes ont reçu une première dose et 114 920 personnes ont reçu les 2 doses.
