Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz called on Lebanese leaders to stop “Hezbollah’s hegemony over the state” before the Kingdom’s Shura council. The Saudi leader also felt that his country “also stands by the brotherly Lebanese people and urges all Lebanese leaders to put the interests of their people first and work to achieve what the brother Lebanese people aspire to in terms of security, stability and prosperity “.

Previously, King Salman had expressed concern about Iran’s lack of cooperation with the international community regarding its nuclear program and ballistic missile development, alluding to current discussions to revive the Vienna Accords, indicating that he hoped Tehran change attitude and cooperate with other countries in the region.

This information comes as no progress has been made on the restoration of diplomatic relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, after the kingdom recalled its ambassador and expelled the ambassador from the land of the cedars and this despite the resignation of the Minister of Information Georges Cordahi who had qualified, before his appointment, the military operations carried out by the Riyadh in Yemen as aggression. The Saudi kingdom has, on the contrary, further stiffened its position vis-à-vis Lebanon accusing Hezbollah of attacking it directly, monitoring the bombing operations of its territory carried out by the Houthi rebels from Yemen.
