The Lebanese Army Command announces the arrival this morning of 40 tons of medical equipment and food aid offered by Pakistan to the Lebanese Army via Beirut International Airport
This aid from Pakistan is in addition to that from Qatar, which always arrives monthly via the international airport, as does French aid. Some sources mention American financial aid to Lebanese soldiers whose balance is less than $ 20 per month, far from the equivalent of $ 450 two years ago.
As a reminder, nearly 77% of the population would no longer have enough to eat and 33% of children would sleep hungry, said the authors of a UNICEF report. 43% of the working population is said to be unemployed, while 83% of the population is now living below the poverty line.
Many concerns concern the Lebanese Army, considered to be the only institution still valid in the Land of the Cedars in the face of the corruption which plagues other Lebanese institutions. Due to the current economic crisis, however, nearly 3,000 soldiers have deserted its ranks while the command now encourages the military to take several jobs, something normally prohibited.
