Reacting to the speech of the President of the Republic who indirectly attacked Hezbollah and the Amal movement, both accused of blocking the institutions of Lebanon, Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed having accepted the task of creating a new cabinet despite the difficulties and a situation considered impossible to resolve. He also considered that the Lebanese constitution and laws were created precisely in order to avoid the destruction of Lebanese institutions and to resolve the differences.

Najib Mikati indicates that he was the first to face the current paralysis of Lebanese institutions, alluding to the decision of the Amal movement and Hezbollah to boycott government meetings after Judge Tarek Bitar’s decision to indict several former ministers close to the president. of the Nabih Berri chamber in the context of the Beirut Port case.

He noted that no settlement will be made to the detriment of institutions or that no blackmail will be acceptable within the framework of the investigation of the explosion of the port of Beirut or with the international community. However, he ruled out any resignation of the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salamé, whose monetary policy is considered to be a determining factor in the current financial and economic crisis, believing “that an officer cannot be dismissed during the war” .

The Prime Minister thus calls for a return to a policy of dissociation to protect Lebanon and its relations with other Arab countries. “We must not interfere or offend their internal affairs or engage in anything that is not related to us”, continues the tenant of the Grand Seraglio, after the publication yesterday by Saudi Arabia of a video showing suspected Hezbollah operatives allegedly involved in bombings carried out by Yemen-based Houthi rebels of Saudi territory.

However, he felt that Hezbollah is a Lebanese political party and that no foreign country has influence over Lebanon.
