On Friday, outgoing Prime Minister Hassan Diab granted exceptional approval allowing the Bank of Lebanon to subsidize fuel imports at a rate of 3,900 LL / USD to the dollar instead of 1,500 LL / USD

This decision comes the day after a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Baabda during which the Head of State also gave his approval in the presence of the outgoing Minister of Finance Ghazi Wazni, the outgoing Minister of Energy and Water Resources Raymond Ghajar. and the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salamé.

Hassan Diab stressed that his approval aims to ensure the necessary fuel for motorists for the next three months, which will also promote the inflow of foreign currency in favor of the summer tourist season.

This measure should, however, only alleviate the crisis by causing a price increase of 60,000 LL for 20 liters of gasoline instead of 45,000 LL for 20 liters currently.
