The Lebanese authorities have decided to extend for their additional 6 months, general mobilization measures in the face of the COVID19 epidemic in Lebanon. In addition, 3 days of confinement will also be put in place on the occasion of the Passover And Eid el Fitr, responding to the comments of the medical sector, which fears a significant increase in the number of cases of people infected on this occasion.

The announcement was made after the meeting of the High Defence Council at the Presidential Palace in Baabda.

The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, who had previously met with outgoing Prime Minister Hassan Diab, stressed that the number of cases of people infected and deaths remains high. As for the Prime Minister, he said he feared a third wave not only in Lebanon but in the world.

A total of 452,281 have been infected since 21 February 2020, when the first case was discovered in Lebanon. The total number of people affected by the virus is 447,737 local cases and 4,544 cases from abroad.

2,364 people are currently reported to be hospitalized and 982 people are in critical condition and 283 are on respirators.

92,975 are currently active and 353,342 are cured

The total number of people who have died has been 5,964 since the onset of the disease in Lebanon on 21 February 2020.
