The Turkish company Karadeniz, owner of the electricity production barges present in Lebanon since 2013, threatens to cease operations after the financial prosecutor, Judge Ali Ibrahim decided to seize its ships. The company also calls on Beirut to settle its arrears vis-à-vis it.

As a reminder, the judge accused the company of having paid $ 7 million to certain local officials and imposed a fine of $ 25 million. He then ordered the seizure of these barges pending payment of these sums.

Karadeniz indicates for his part not to have been paid for more than 18 months, that is to say since the beginning of the financial crisis which the Country of the Cedars is going through. It indicates that it is seeking an amicable solution to maintain the activity of its barges in Lebanon and thus continue to provide electricity. It therefore calls on the local authorities to interact with Judge Ali Ibrahim and put in place an arrears settlement plan, also threatening to interrupt the supply of 400 megawatts to Lebanon.
