« Unlicensed » food factories shut down by order of Minister of Industry

Industry Minister George Boushekian has made a decision to « close unlicensed food factories », considering them to be acting in contravention of the public health and safety interests.

These include factories producing food that is not legally authorized, urging their owners to regularize their situation.

This information comes at a time when Lebanon has been hit for several years by scandals in the food industry sector, between food poisoning and even groundwater pollution.
