The World Food Program (WFP) has said it is expanding its aid to 195,000 additional people in Lebanon. The number of beneficiaries of this aid would thus increase to 300,000 people, via the National Poverty Targeting Program (NPTP) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, which is developing the national social protection framework and strategy.
The aim would be to help vulnerable people cope with the economic crisis and its consequences in terms of inflation and more particularly the rise in food prices. Thus, WFP will provide 200,000 LL per month to these people through funding granted by the European Union, Germany, Canada, Norway, Italy and France.
This decision already follows others. From 2020, the international institution has already increased the sums paid, from 40,500 LL to 100,000 LL.

At the same time, the Lebanese authorities will have to better target the people who should benefit from it. WFP, for its part, will create a payment platform and check that the beneficiaries of this aid meet the appropriate criteria.
